Course Description

The course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to understand the methods and contents of vocational guidance in school.
Class activities will be a combination of group discussion and creating useful teaching materials for career decision making.
For the relevance to the diploma policy, please refer to the subject table of each department.

Course Objectives

(1)Student will learn the process of career development.
(2)Student will learn the theories of career development.
(3)Student will acquire the ability of practical Vocational Guidance.
(4)Student will be able to create useful teaching materials for career decision making.

Grading Policy

(1) Presentation and Reports (30%)
(2) Learning portfolio (outcomes and reflections of learning) (50%)
(3) Final report (20%)
We will return the submitted items such as Learning portfolio, Reports and so on and give feedback. The final test will be explained on the LMS.

Requirements(Assignments)

As a pre-assignment, Students review the content of Study of Guidance of Student Personnel Service for the 3rd grade (about 6 hours)
Students review the contents of "career education" in 3rd grade (about 3 hours)
Students read the scope of the next lesson of the textbook and work on advance tasks (about 1 hour each time) (2nd -8th)
Students will investigate the materials and prepare for presentation (about 2 hour each) (11th - 12th).
The pre-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.
As a post-assignment, students will prepare reports on Aptitude test after class(about 2hours) (11th-12th).
The post-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.

Note

In the teacher training course, it is the compulsory subject for the students who wish to acquire the "engineering education license".
Students will use LMS.

Schedule

1The syllabus and the attention points on course, the purpose of the course, the outline, the assessment method, etc. will be explained.
2Students will learn about the definition and historical change of vocational guidance (course guidance) and its significance.
3Students will learn about occupations of information society and human resources sought by society.
4Students will read materials and learn about the current situation and problems of vocational guidance.
5Students will learn about the types of occupations in the information society based on materials.
6Students will learn about various theories of career education (super theory).
7Students will learn about various theories of career education (the theory of Cranbolts).
8Students will learn about various theories of career education (Shine's theory).
9Students will learn the current status and problems of aptitude test.
10Students will take the aptitude test and consider its effectiveness.
11Presentation ①
Students will discuss and present a desirable support for course determination.
12Presentation ②
Students will discuss discussion on the way.
13Students will consider and report on the significance of career education and the role in school education.
14Presentation ③
Students will make presentations and discuss on the significance of career education and the role in school education.
15Final examination and explanation
Students will summarize the reflection of learning in sentences and write a final report.
