Course Description

This course examines Japan political history after the Second World War,dealing with domestic policy and foreign policy.The Japanese post war political system has been unique. Between 1955 and 2009,the Liberal Democratic Party was in power except only one brief interruption. Topics include leadership of Japanese prime ministers such as Ichiro Hatoyama, Nobusuke Kishi, Hayato Ikeda, Eisaku Sato and Kakuei Tanaka.
