Course Description

The instructor of this course was an editorial writer of the Yomiuri Shimbun. This course aims to learn the interaction between media and politics in a democratic system which is depneding on the media for legitimizing power. Topics include freedom of press, problem of fake news,new medeia and politics,and impact of editorials on Japanese politics. The students are expected to pay attention to the daily news reports in the newspapers and TV news.
